Strawberry picking has become somewhat of a tradition in recent years. It's been a late one, but a fun one nonetheless. Part of the fun is having to take the ferry over to Surry to College Run Farms. A boat ride is always welcome from my vantage point.
This year the season was late so we caught it at the beginning, unlike most years where we are catching it at the tail end. The plants were still relatively small and there were very few rotten berries on the ground. Even though the berries were just getting ripe, we found plenty of good ones to pick. The weather was a bit overcast and cool so the rest of my family opted out, but thankfully Ted was up for picking.
We decided to stop at 3 baskets...YUM!
I gave away some of these and froze the rest. I've been enjoying smoothies with fresh berries ever since!
A few shots of beautiful flowers around the farm
