We celebrated my Mom's 60th birthday over Memorial Day weekend on the day before her actual birthday. I keep second-guessing writing 6-0 because it doesn't seem possible. Maybe because Mom doesn't look or seem 60! We planned a small surprise dinner for her with a few of her favorite people. Grandma, Uncle Eddie (1 of her 5 brothers) & Aunt Linda, and a sweet couple from church (who treat us like family) were all able to make it. As an additional surprise, my Uncle & Aunt brought their Great-Granddaughter, Ayden, who is one of Mom's fans. It was a nice evening and a party more Mom's speed. She made it clear that she really didn't want a big bash. She seemed thrilled to spend it with the smaller crowd of close family and friends.
One of Mom's favorite parts of the evening was sharing it with her own Mom. Grandma doesn't always like to leave the house, especially in the evening, so her effort to come was meaningful and greatly appreciated!

Grandma got tired of moving around so we let her stay on the couch inside the house while we sang "Happy Birthday" to Mom on the back porch. We opened the window wide so that she could still feel a part of the festivities. Here she is singing away. She is so cute...

On Mom's actual birthday, a neighbor called to wish Mom a "Happy Birthday" because she "saw a sign to that told her to". Mom thought the husband had left the wife a note to remember this. She had no idea that there actually was a SIGN on every stop sign leaving our neighborhood and one even a mile down the road. Of course, the jokester behind the morning entertainment was our neighbor DeeDee.
