Bridal Shower #2

Mom and I hosted a "family" shower for Hayley in mid-July at my parents' house.  Most everyone that we invited was able to come so we had a full house.  The dreary day and stormy weather made for a perfect day to be indoors enjoying each other's company and celebrating Hayley's upcoming wedding.  In fact, after 4 hours of eating, chatting, and present-opening, the shower was still going strong.  We were so pleased with how everything turned out and it was so great to have both sides of our family and some of Jerry's family all together.

Cupcakes from "Extraordinary Cupcakes"...so yummy and they even make gluten free!
Talk about a treat!

Scurfing

Here goes some long overdue catching up!

With all of the big events of the summer, our boating days were more limited (and have made the onset of fall a bit harder on me than it usually is).  One of my summer highlights was a fun Sunday on the river with my dear friends from home complete with some scurfing behind the boat...

After the guys had exhausted themselves, we stopped off at a beach on the outside of Jamestown Island so that the kiddos could play...
The boat just makes us happy!!

Wintergreen

I got away for a quick trip to Wintergreen in mid-June with some longtime friends.  While we were only gone for one night, it felt like we squeezed a whole lot into a little more than 24 hours.  I guess we like to pack as much fun into a little amount of time as we can.  It was great to spend time together and the added bonus was the amazing view from our condo.

On our way up to Wintergreen we stopped in Charlottesville for lunch and to meet up with some friends there for a quick visit.  We picked up sandwiches at Bellair Market and all had a picnic at a nice grassy spot near Boars Head.  We then headed to Sugar Hollow to hike and swim (where I had recently been reunion weekend and really enjoyed).

As we left Sugar Hollow, we stumbled upon something that I have never seen before...
Bears!!
Breathtaking views from our condo at Wintergreen...
We woke up to a beautiful day in the mountains and a perfect one for hiking.  Based on the fact that we only had part of the day to explore, we ended up hiking 3 smaller trails all close to where we stayed at Wintergreen.
